Men's soccer team drops last regular season game to Binghamton University 4-2

Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic men's soccer team drops last regular season game, 4-2 to Binghamton University.

The Owls opened the scoring at 13:07 of the first half on a goal by junior Emiliano Aranes. Aranes took a corner kick from sophomore Bjorn Masson and headed it past Binghamton goalkeeper Jon Locitzer for a 1-0 lead. Binghamton tied the score at 1-1 just 13 seconds later on a goal by Davide DiGenova. Keith Augeri took a ball down the right flank, served a ball across to DiGenova, who headed it past FAU senior goalkeeper Jonas Kolstad.

FAU was credited with there second goal on a own goal by Binghamton. Freshman Guillermo Kramer crossed a ball into the BU penalty box and the ball deflected off a defender and into the goal.

BU then took control of the game scoring two goals in the final ten minutes of the first half. Motty Gutflais came off the bench to score at the 34:32 mark on a penalty kick to tie the game at 2-2. Pat Skinner scored at the 44:25 mark to put BU in the lead for the first time. Kevin Brooks crossed a ball to Skinner who headed it past Kolstad.

Motty Gutflais scored the only goal of the second half, his second goal of the day at the 89:14 mark.

With the loss, FAU finishes the regular season at 6-11. Binghamton improves to 2-13.

FAU will now concentrate on the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. The Owls will travel to Macon, GA for a Friday November 16th match against number one seed Mercer. Game time is scheduled for 7pm with the winner advancing to the conference championship game on Saturday, November 17. FAU lost to Mercer 2-1 in overtime during the regular season.
