![]() Football Practice Report 4/10/06
April 10, 2006 After the first scrimmage this past weekend, the Florida Atlantic University football team entered Monday's practice with a plan of attack. A slight rain shower and gusty wind didn't deter the team from its sixth practice in pads. The team closed out the afternoon practice with a scrimmage. With the no. 1 offense facing the no. 1 defense in the first series, the offense gained one first down on two completed passes. After gaining four yards on a running play, Taheem Acevedo knocked away a ball in the backfield and recovered it to send the offensive unit off of the field. Rusty Smith guided the second team offense onto the field and drove the team down to the 10-yard line but was unable to punch the ball in for the score. The gusty wind wrecked havoc on long throws all afternoon. The team ran four pass plays into the endzone, but saw all four float out of the reach of its receiver. Jason Harmon almost pulled of an acrobatic, over the shoulder catch on third down but saw the ball pop out as he landed on the ground.. On Tuesday afternoon, the team will head to Port St. Lucie to greet fans, sign autographs and hand out schedules at Tradition Field where the FAU baseball team will hold practice at 4 p.m. The next practice for the football team is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and the next scrimmage will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tom Oxley athletic fields.
