DAYTONA BEACH, FL - A late three-pointer by Carderro Nwoji staked the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team to a four-point lead they would never surrender, in a thrilling 68-62 win over Stetson Friday night in the Glenn Wilkes Classic at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach.

Nwoji finished with 8 points, nearly all of which he scored in the game's final minute. The junior point guard played just four minutes in the first half after drawing two quick fouls to start the game, but drilled the pivotal shot in the game with 51 seconds remaining. He topped off a brilliant clutch performance by going 4-of-4 from the line in the closing moments.

Carlos Monroe logged his first double-double of the season, following a season in which he registered a team-high 11 in that category. The junior finished with 13 points and a season-best 15 rebounds.

Paul Graham III led the Owls with another stellar offensive effort, pouring in 18 points to go with 6 rebounds on the night. The shooting guard paces the FAU attack through three games this season, averaging 16.0 PPG.

The Owls led by as many as 10 in the second half, before the Hatters (1-2) began an 18-6 run with just over 14 minutes remaining. Eric Diaz and Mark Lohuis keyed the comeback with three combined triples during that span, one by Diaz and two by Lohuis.

With its first win of the season, Florida Atlantic (1-2) now faces a tough challenge with a second game in less than 24 hours against cross-state rival South Florida (0-3) from the Big East.
