Men's Basketball Defeats Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Raheim Brown had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Florida Atlantic University to a 76-72 victory over Jacksonville University Thursday night in Jacksonville, FL. The win improves FAU to 15-11 on the year and 12-7 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Brown was joined by Earnest Crumbley who scored 16 points while Jeff Cowans had 12.

JU (17-11, 11-8 A-Sun) jumped out to a 27-17 lead with 6:43 left in the first half before FAU closed on an 18-8 run to tie the game at 35 heading into the locker room.

The Dolphins took a 44-40 lead with 15:01 left in the game before FAU rallied to lead 62-58 with 6:43 to play. A three-pointer by Travis Robinson gave JU a 67-66 lead with 2:56 to play before the FAU defense virtually shut down the Dolphins. An 8-0 run over the next 2:30 gave FAU a 74-67 lead with 26 seconds remaining, essentially shutting the door on JU.

FAU outshot JU 57 percent to 38 percent in the second half as both teams finished 46 percent for the game. The Owls outrebounded the Dolphins 36-30 and held a 25-14 advantage at the free throw line. FAU went 25-of-36 from the line while JU went 14-of-18.

Kevin Sheppard led Jacksonville with 17 points. Calvin Warner was the only other Dolphin in double figures with 12.

The win keeps FAU tied for third place in the A-Sun with Central Florida.
