ATLANTA, GA - Thomas Terrell scored 36 points to lead Georgia State University past Florida Atlantic University, 76-71, Saturday night in Atlanta, GA. GSU closed the game on an 18-6 run to send FAU (13-10, 10-6 Atlantic Sun Conference) to its second straight loss. Raheim Brown had his ninth double-double of the year with a team-high 18 points and 11 rebounds. Earnest Crumbley added 16 while Andre Garner had 10.

FAU opened up a 33-23 lead with 5:06 left in the first half and settled with a 39-33 halftime lead. Terrell scored 17 points in the first half, including five three-pointers. He finished 8-of-10 from beyond the arc and 10-of-13 from the field. He was also 8-of-8 from the line.

GSU (15-9, 11-6 A-Sun) responded with an 11-4 run to start the second half and took a 44-43 lead with 16:37 left. FAU edged out by seven points with 11:28 remaining and still led by that margin with 6:43 left. A three-pointer b y Leroy Davis with 3:53 left completed a 7-0 Panthers' run that tied the game at 65.

A pair of free throws by Terrell with 56 seconds remaining put GSU up 71-69. Terrell made two more free throws with 18 seconds left gave GSU a 74-71 lead. A missed three-pointer by Jeff Cowans at the other end with 7 seconds left resulted in a break-away dunk by Leroy Davis to complete the 76-71 victory.

GSU outshot FAU 46 percent to 34 percent. The Owls controlled the boards 46-32 and forced GSU into 16 turnovers against just nine.

With the win, GSU improved to 9-0 all-time against FAU at home. The loss was FAU's second straight by five points while the game marked the 14th time FAU has been involved in a game decided by seven points or less.
