Freshman Trisha Doyle has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for the week ending September 19, 2004.

The Canadian native finished a superb 13th of 194 runners at last weekend's University of Florida Gator Invitational, her first ever collegiate event and her first attempt at the 5k distance. Previously, Doyle had only run 4k races in Canada.

Her time of 18:28.88 was the third fastest time in school history, earned her top freshman honors, and was only just under a minute slower than race-winner Jill Steffens, a sophomore from the University of Georgia.

Doyle's finish powered the Owls to a seventh-place finish amongst the 22 teams. With three runners in the top 40, FAU placed ahead of the University of Miami and Atlantic Sun rivals UCF, Jacksonville, and Stetson.
