Booth Qualifies for NCAA Regional Meet
April 22, 2006
ATHENS, GA -- With the Atlantic Sun Championships over, the Florida Atlantic University women's track team turned its focus to qualifying as individuals for the NCAA Regional meet. Saturday, Yanique Booth and rest of the Owls took part in the Bulldog Limited, hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. Booth took full advantage, qualifying for the regional meet in the 100m hurdles, posting the best time among collegiate competitors of 13.72 seconds. "It's exciting to have her qualify for the second year in a row in the 100m hurdles. She's coming into form at the right time of the season," head coach Alex Smolka said. Other FAU top-individual performances include Lindsay Glover's victory in the 400m hurdles (1:02.44), a second-place finish by Marilyn Stephens in the 400m (56.18 seconds). The Owl relay teams ran strong times as well, with the 4x100m team of Jian Jones, Malika Clary, Stephens, and Brandi Prather finishing in 46.67 seconds for a second-place finish. The 4x400m team ran uncontested, finishing in 3:50.87. Booth joins thrower Krystena Castro (discus) and the 4x400m relay team in qualifying for NCAA Regionals. Castro and the relay team qualify based on their victories at the A-Sun Championship.
The Owls will head to UCF on April 29, as they attempt to qualify more individuals for the regional meet. 100m 400m 100m Hurdles 400m Hurdles 800m 4x100m Relay 4x400m Relay Long Jump High Jump **-regional qualifying time |
