Track Burns Rubber at Disney Relays

Orlando, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's track team set several school records on way to a third place finish out of 11 teams at the Disney Relays, Saturday afternoon in Orlando, FL.
Individually, Claudia Beitel and Amy Springer set school records in the 3000m (10:02) and 3000m steeplechase (12:27), respectively. Beitel's finish was good enough for first place. Meanwhile, the 4x800 team also set a new FAU low (9:22.80).
Raynell Hagberg, Artemis Saridakis, Beitel, and Springer each had a leg in the 4x800 relay, placing third overall.
In throwing, Ashley Stough won the discus with a 42.19m throw. Stough also powered her way to a second place finish in the hammer, chucking it 46.66 meters. Stough placed third in the shot put. At the same time, Nina Panebianco took third in the javelin (32.61m) and fourth in the discus 38.72m.
The Lady Owls also faired well in the 400m hurdles. Helenor Wilson placed second (1:02.70) while Cindy Lane placed third (1:04.81).
Continuing its relay success, FAU took first place in the 4x200 and 4x400 relay. Daquia McCoy, Jian Jones, Ariel Davis, and Marilyn Stephens combined for the victory in the 4x200. Meanwhile, Helenor Wilson, Lindsay Glover, Hagberg, and Lane, beat out the competition in the 4x400 (3:53.92).
Brittany Powers rounded out the top-three finishers for the Lady Owls. Powers placed third in the 5000m with a time of 18:45.
FAU participates at the Hurricane Invitational, March 20 in Coral Gables, FL.
