KISSIMMEE, FL - Endicott College lost both ends of its Tuesday afternoon doubleheader versus Ramapo, 4-1, and Hope, 8-0, in non-conference softball action at the Rebel Games in Florida.
The Roadrunners of Ramapo got past the Gulls (2-4) on the power of a three-run fifth inning rally. Junior pitcher Robyn Savitske (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) was charged with the loss, allowing four runs (3 earned) on 12 hits. She fanned three and did not allow a walk but an error in the fifth opened the door for the Roadrunners' rally.
Savitske has only allowed four earned runs in 22 innings pitched. She owns a 1.27 earned run average and opponents are hitting just .217 with 32 strikeouts.
Dottie Bartsch (Salisbury, MA/Triton) was only Endicott player with more than one hit (2-for-3) while Jackie Collier (Swampscott, MA/Bishop Fenwick) drove in Danielle Sargent (Sabattus, ME/Oak Hill), who went 1-for-2, for the Gulls only run in the seventh.
Casey Shanley (Billerica, MA/Billerica), Lynsey Vacchino (Kingsotn, MA/Silver Lake) and Brittany Modoono (Lexington, MA/Lexington) all hit safely for the Gulls.
Hope College put crooked numbers on the scoreboard in each of the first three innings, including four in the second frame, to get past Endicott in the second game of the afternoon. Starting pitcher Kelly Bregman (Gray, ME/Gray-New Gloucester) was touched up for nine runs (7 earned) on seven hits, five walks. Bregman also fanned two before giving way to Missy Swymer (Winchester, MA/Winchester), who worked 1.2 innings of two-hit shutout softball.
Endicott stranded five runners on base in the game. Brittany Nolan (Monrue, CT/Masuk), Danielle Sargent, Bartsch and Collier all hit safely in the loss.
Endicott will try to rebound Wednesday when the Gulls take on Mount Vernon Nazarene and Wisconsin Eau Claire.
