BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's basketball team fell in their final regular season game, 64-62 to Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon in Beverly, MA. Saturday marked the annual Senior Day, as the Gulls Carly Haynes (Laconia, NH/Laconia), Paris Sanders (Needham, MA/Minuteman Tech) and Kate Harte (Warner, NH/Kearsarge Regional) were all honored prior to the game.

The Gulls got off to a slow start on Saturday afternoon, as the visiting Seahawks dictated the early pace of the first half. Katie Horan (Webster, MA/St. Peter-Marian) intercepted an Endicott pass and took it the other way for the uncontested lay-in, putting Salve Regina up 8-4 early on. Endicott responded with back-to-back buckets from Paris Sanders, the first a pull-up 14-footer and the second on a nice entry pass from Carly Haynes for a strong two in the low post, evening the score at 8-8.

The Seahawks dashed out to an 8-4 run over the next three minutes, building their lead to 16-12. Sara Doherty (Somerville, MA/Arlington Catholic) and the Gulls offense began to hit their stride, as Doherty corralled a missed Aubrey Drugan (Salem, NH/Bishop Guertin) three-point attempt, as she grabbed two in the paint, cutting the score to 16-14. On the next Endicott possession, the Gulls tied to game as Nicole Young (Rockland, MA/Cardinal Spellman) converted a nice lay-in on a feed from Ceciley Chisholm (Lexington, MA/Lexington), knotting the game at 16. Endicott grabbed the lead at the seven minute mark, as Kaylin Burke (Leominster, MA/Leominster) found Carly Haynes on a two-on-one fast break, putting the home team up two.

Endicott held on to that two point advantage as Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, NH/Central Catholic) knocked down a three-pointer with just over a minute remaining in the opening half, putting the Gulls on top 29-27. The visitors would even the score when Margaret O'Brien (Canton, MA/Canton) hit both her free-throw attempts, sending the teams into the half tied at 29-all.

Salve Regina returned to the court for the second half in a big way, quickly rushing out to a 12-4 run; capped off by Allegra Lovoy (Charlestown, RI/Chariho Regional) pull-up jumper, putting the visitors up 41-33. Endicott responded with a run of their own, as the Gulls scored 11 of the games next 13 points to even the game for the ninth time, 44-all.

The see-saw pace continued with Salve building a lead, only to have Endicott come back to even the score. The Seahawks quickly saw their eight point lead with just over six minutes remaining in regulation disappear, as Endicott's Nicole Young continued he strong inside game to pull the home team back within four. Moments later, with thirty-seconds remaining and Salve leading by five, Endicott's Ceciley Chisholm swiped an inbounds pass and converted the lay-up, pulling the Gulls within three, 62-59. Less than 10 seconds later, Chisholm again stole the inbounds pass, this time for the hoop and the foul, evening the game at 62-all. That's as close as Endicott would get however, as Salve's Megan Barry (Plainville, MA/King Phillip) hit the game winner with six seconds remaining, as Salve Regina defeated Endicott, 64-62.

The Gulls were led by Ceciley Chisholm's team-high 16 points and eight rebounds. Nicole Duchesne reached her season average as she scored 13 in the losing effort. Nicole Young ended the afternoon with 11 points and three rebounds in the loss. Salve Regina was led by Megan Barry's game-high 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Allegra Lovoy finished the day with 14 points and three assists for the visitors.

Endicott ends the regular season with an overall record of 16-7 and 12-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Gulls have earned the No. 2 seed in the CCC-North division and it appears that Endicott will host Roger Williams University at 6:00 PM on Tuesday evening in the opening round of the Conference Playoffs. The Gulls beat Roger Williams 61-54 on February 3rd in Bristol, RI
