EC Drops Nail-Biter in OT to UNE, 57-58

Brown Sinks 3 Free Throws To Force Overtime

Feb. 3, 2004

The Endicott Gulls lost in overtime this evening to the visiting Nor'easters from the University of New England. In an action packed game that saw the lead change multiple times, it was the hot hand of senior co-captain Morgan Milowsky and the clutch shooting of sophomore Jodi Brown that kept the Gulls alive.

The Gulls took the lead early and held on for the first 5 minutes of the game. Endicott then went on a scoring drought and the Nor'easters capitalized, pulling ahead. UNE led for the rest of the half and at the buzzer it was 28-20, UNE leading.

In the second half, the Gulls gave the Nor'easters a taste of their own medicine, holding them to just one bucket in the first seven minutes. EC took the lead, 33-32, with 11:49 left to play on a bucket by Brown. With neither team able to pull away, the lead went back and forth. With just over a second left in regulation and the Gulls trailing by 3 points, Brown was fouled while shooting beyond the arc. Brown sank all three free throws. With 1.5 on the clock, Brown then stole the inbound pass and got one last shot. Unfortunately, it rolled around the rim and bounced out, forcing overtime.

In OT, it was more of the same. The lead changed multiple times. With the Nor'easters up by 1 and 6 seconds left to play, UNE senior Melissa Roller was fouled. She hit both free-throws putting UNE up by 3. EC had time for one last shot. Brown was able to sink a last second shot but, unfortunately, it was ruled a two. Endicott lost 57-58.

Senior Morgan Milowsky and sophomore Jodi Brown each tallied 17 points for the Gulls. Milowsky hit 5 of her 6 three pointers and dished out 4 assists. Brown scored 12 of her 17 points in the second half and added 2 in overtime. She also led the team in steals with 4.

Senior Amanda Brown led UNE with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Senior Missy Stults added 13 points, 9 boards and 6 assists.

Endicott's next game is this Thursday at New England College in Henniker, NH. Tip-off time is 5:30PM.
