BEVERLY, MA - New England College climbed all the way back from a 10-point halftime deficit only to see Endicott College pull out a 72-66 victory Thursday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

The Gulls maintained their lead in the CCC North Division and increased their winning streak to eight games, improving to 13-6 overall and 10-1 in the CCC. The Pilgrims dropped to 11-7 overall 4-6 in the CCC.

NEC took its first lead since early in the first half on two free throws by senior forward Sabrina Johnson (Nashua, NH) with 2:03 to play in regulation. Johnson would finish with 13 points and five rebounds.

The visitors' lead would be short-lived, however, as Endicott senior co-captain Jodi Brown (Coventry, RI/Coventry) stepped up down the stretch. She began the Gulls' rally on the ensuing possession, canning a three to give the hosts a 68-66 lead. Brown put the finishing touches on the game with 20 seconds left in regulation on a nice dribble-drive and layup in the lane. The guard finished with a team-high 15 points, three assists and two steals.

Freshman forward Nicole Young (Rockland, MA/Cardinal Spellman) and junior forward Paris Sanders (Needham, MA/Minuteman Regional) were immense inside for the Gulls, putting up 14 points apiece. Sanders added 10 rebounds and four blocks, and Young contributed five boards and two blocks. Freshman guard Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, NH/Central Catholic) added 10 points and five rebounds and sophomore guard Aubrey Drugan (Salem, NH/Bishop Guertin) helped EC with seven points.

Endicott shot 47 percent from the floor in the contest, including 53 percent in a first half that saw the Gulls take a 40-30 into the final 20 minutes of play. NEC fired at a 42 percent clip; 43 percent from beyond the arc.

NEC freshman guard Meredith Waldie (Methuen, MA) led all scorers with 19 points - 16 of which came in the first half - on 5-of-9 shooting from three-point land while freshman guard LaShawnda Wilson (Burlington, VT) shot 5-of-7 from the floor for 15 points.

The Gulls travel to Nichols College Saturday afternoon (3) while the Pilgrims visit Curry (1).
