February 26, 2007 - The Emmanuel College Women's Basketball Team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Regionals this weekend. The opening round will feature a double-header, taking place on Friday night (3/2). The first game of the evening will be between the Beavers of the University of Maine-Farmington (25-3) and the Judges of Brandeis University (19-5) at 5:30 pm. The Saints (27-1) will then face the Seahawks of Salve Regina University (22-6) in the nightcap at 7:30 pm.
The two teams that win on Friday night will advance to the 2nd round on Saturday (3/3). Saturday's game will tip off at 7:00 pm.
Maine-Farmington defeated Maine Maritime to win the automatic bid from the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Brandeis University was defeated in the finals of the University Athletic Association (UAA) tournament by NYU, but received an at-large bid to the national tourney. Salve Regina won the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship and Emmanuel took the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title.

February 24, 2007 - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team took the Great Northeast Athletic Conference title on Saturday, defeating Norwich University, 63-55. Emmanuel's freshman guard Iman Davis (New Britain, CT) led the way for the Saints with 20 points, knocking down 6 of 11 attempts from the floor and 8 of 11 from the line. Davis also dished out 4 assists and tallied 3 steals in the win. Senior forward LaTeisha Johnson (Dorchester, MA) hit for 14 points, pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds, and blocked 3 shots, while freshman forward Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) netted 12 points and grabbed 6 boards.
The top-seeded Saints (27-1) led the 2nd-seeded Cadets (24-3) by just 2 points at the break. Emmanuel shot 38% from the floor vs. the Cadets' 39%. The Saints' defense forced 23 Cadet turnovers and Emmanuel out-rebounded Norwich, 43-38. The game featured 2 lead changes and 2 ties. Emmanuel led for the majority of the game, holding its largest lead of 11 points mid-way through the 2nd half.
Sophomore guard Kayleigh Shappy (Burlington, VT) led the Cadets, scoring a game-high 24 points, including 4 three-pointers. Senior center Sarah Chap (Stockbridge, VT) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Chap and freshman point guard Natalie Marchese (Rutland, VT) were named to the All-Tournament Team for Norwich.
Emmanuel's Iman Davis and Tommia Davis were All-Tournament Team selections. After shooting an incredible 12 for 14 for the tournament, the Saints' LaTeisha Johnson was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Today's win gave the Saints their 11th GNAC Championship. By winning the GNAC title, Emmanuel will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The national tournament will begin next Friday (3/2). The Saints' opponent and the site of competition will be determined this Sunday night on the NCAA selection show.
February 25, 2007 - The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team came up short on Saturday in the finals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament. The Saints just missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have defeated host Rivier College in the tournament championship. The team made a tremendous run at the title, which included two big upsets earlier in the week. The 5th-seeded Saints edged 4th-seeded Norwich University in the quarterfinals, 60-55, and then upset top-seeded Western New England College in the semifinals, 71-62. The Saints traveled to Nashua, NH to take on the 3rd-seeded Raiders in Emmanuel's first-ever conference championship game.
Saturday's battle featured 6 lead changes and 4 ties, before Emmanuel finally fell, 59-57. The Saints managed to keep Rivier from scoring a field goal for the final 3:42 of the game. The Raiders connected on free throws down the stretch and Emmanuel's last second shot rimmed out. The Saints fought back from a 10-point deficit midway through the 2nd half, but could not hold on for the win. While the Saints committed just 7 turnovers for the game, they were out-rebounded by the Raiders, 41-28.
Sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI) led Emmanuel with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Sophomore forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY) netted 11 points, while junior center Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK) chipped in with 10. Junior forward Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) hit for 10 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds in the effort. Both Lindsey and Spellman were named to the All-Tournament Team for Emmanuel.
The Saints wrapped up the season with a combined record of 12 and 16. The Saints had three players receive All-Conference honors. Mack Spellman and Rob Williams-Hinton were 2nd Team All-Conference selections, while Brian Lindsey was a 3rd Team selection.
February 23, 2007 - The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team rolled to a 71-42 win over visiting Western New England College on Friday night in the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament. Senior forward and 1st Team All-Conference selection LaTeisha Johnson (Dorchester, MA) led three players scoring in double figures for Emmanuel with 17 points. Johnson hit 7 of 8 attempts from the floor, pulled down 6 rebounds, blocked 4 shots, and tallied 4 steals in the win. Freshman guard Iman Davis (New Britain, CT) played a solid game for the Saints, netting 16 points to go along with her 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Emmanuel forward and GNAC Rookie of the Year Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Emmanuel shot 46% (29-63) from the field for the game. The Saints' defense held the visiting Golden Bears to just 27% shooting (16-60). For Western New England College, 1st Team All-Conference selection Jen Dabrowski (Plainville, CT) led the way with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Senior guard Jenna Cullen (East Haddam, CT) chipped in with 8 points in the effort.
The Golden Bears wrapped up the season at 15-12 overall, while the Saints improved to 26-1. Emmanuel will now advance to the GNAC Championship game on Saturday (2/24) at 3:00 pm. The Saints will face the winner of the other semifinal game, featuring #2 Norwich University and #3 Suffolk University.
February 22, 2007 - The Emmanuel Men's Basketball Team pulled off an upset over the #1 seed in the semifinal round of the GNAC Tournament to advance to the conference finals this weekend. The 5th-seeded Saints stunned top-seeded Western New England College, 71-62, in Springfield on Thursday night.
Sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI) led all five starters scoring in double figures with 17 points. This was the second straight upset road victory for Emmanuel, who defeated 4th-seeded Norwich in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. It was a close game the entire way with WNEC taking a 34-30 lead at the break. Junior forward Brian Lindsay (New Orleans, LA) had double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds despite picking up two fouls in the opening two minutes. Sophomore forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY) also had a double digit outing with 12 points and 10 boards. Freshman guard Mike Jackson (New York, NY) netted 12 points while junior forward Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK) contributed 10 points in the win. As a team, the Saints committed just 7 turnovers during the contest.
The lead changed hands several times in the second half. With 1:54 remaining in the game, Emmanuel took the lead for good on a basket by sophomore forward Andres Bustamante (Amherst, MA). The Saints then connected on 11 free throws in the final 1:22 to cement the win.
Western New England College had three players in double figures led by junior guard Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) with 13 points coming off the bench. Junior guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) and sophomore guard Asif Abdul-Wadud (Springfield, MA) each added 12 points. WNEC's Jim Bayne, the GNAC Player of the Year, was held to just 7 points after entering the game with a 14.5 average.
Emmanuel had dropped a pair of four-point decisions (61-57 and 71-67) to the Golden Bears during the regular season. Western New England, which had an 11-game win streak snapped, fell to 19-8 on the season. The Saints improved to 12-15 overall.
Emmanuel will now advance to the GNAC Championship on Saturday (2/24). The Saints will travel to Nashua, NH to take on the 3rd-seeded Raiders of Rivier College. The Saints defeated the Raiders in both meetings during the regular season. On January 17th, the Saints won on the road, 69-67. On February 6th, Emmanuel was victorious at home, 75-74. This will be the Emmanuel men's basketball program's first-ever trip to the GNAC finals.
February 21, 2007 - The top-seeded Women's Basketball Team rolled past 8th seeded Rivier College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday night. The Saints outscored the Raiders, 90-58. Emmanuel received 20 points from junior guard Brittany Bushman (Portsmouth, NH). Junior guard Jade Paez (Bronx, NY) netted 15 points and dished out 5 assists. Freshman forward Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) added 12 points on 6 for 7 shooting. Freshman center Abigail Brenkach (Germantown, NY) pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds in the win. Emmanuel will now host the 4th seeded Golden Bears of Western New England College in the tournament semifinals on Friday night (2/23) at 5:00 pm. The winner of this game will play the winner of the other semifinal game featuring #2 Norwich University and #3 Suffolk University. Emmanuel will host both semifinal games on Friday night, as well as the championship game on Saturday (2/24) at 3:00 pm.
The 5th seeded Men's Basketball Team upset 4th seeded Norwich University, 60-55, in the men's GNAC quarterfinals on Tuesday night. The visiting Saints shot 46% from the floor for the game and held the host Cadets scoreless for the final 3:40 to win the game. Emmanuel trailed, 55-51, and went on a 9-0 run to take the lead and the win. Norwich (13-12) led by 10 points on four occasions in the second half, but Emmanuel had an answer each time. Sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI) led thee Emmanuel players in double figures with 16 points. Sophomore forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY) pumped in 15 points on 6 for 8 shooting. Junior center Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK) chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Emmanuel improved to 11-15 on the season. The Saints will travel to Springfield, MA on Thursday night (2/22) to take on the top-seeded Golden Bears of Western New England College in the GNAC semifinals. That game will tip off at 7:00 pm. In other quarterfinal action, 7th seeded Suffolk shocked 2nd seeded Emerson 80-75, while 3rd seeded Rivier defeated 6th seeded Johnson & Wales 88-76 in overtime. Top-seeded WNEC breezed by the 8th seed, Daniel Webster, 81-50.
February 19, 2007 - The Women's Basketball Team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with an 89-63 win over Rivier College. This win gave the Saints a final regular season record of 24 wins and just one loss. Emmanuel went undefeated in conference play, 11-0. The Saints are currently ranked 15th in the D3hoops.com national poll. Emmanuel earned the top-seed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament and will host one of the opening quarterfinal games on Tuesday night (2/20) at 7:00 pm. The Saints will face the 8th seeded Raiders of Rivier College for the second time in four days. A victory in the quarterfinals will guarantee that Emmanuel will host the conference semifinals and championship on Friday (2/23) and Saturday (2/24).
Junior guard Jade Paez (Bronx, NY) and freshman forward Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) led the Saints over the Raiders on Saturday with 18 points apiece. Both players shot 58% from the floor (7 for 12). Freshman guard Iman Davis (New Britain, CT) played a solid game with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Senior forward Lateisha Johnson (Dorchester, MA) netted 12 points and pulled down 5 rebounds in the win. Johnson was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll following her performances in last week's games.
The Men's Basketball Team fell to Emerson College on Saturday in the regular season finale, 73-68. The game featured 15 lead changes and 14 ties. The Saints were led by sophomore forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY). Spellman returned after sitting out for five games to score 21 points, grab 10 rebounds, and dish out 3 assists. Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) notched another double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park,MI) chipped in with 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort. Williams-Hinton was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll after his performances in last week's contests. The Saints out-rebounded the Lions, 43-29, and shot 41% from the floor vs. Emerson's 39% shooting. However, the Lions forced 25 Emmanuel turnovers and the Saints could not finish down the stretch. Emmanuel's 29 fouls sent Emerson to the line 37 times.
Emmanuel finished the season at 10-15 overall and 8-8 in conference play. The Saints received the 5th seed in the conference tournament. Emmanuel will travel to Northfield, VT on Tuesday night (2/20) to take on the 4th seeded Cadets of Norwich University in a 7:30 pm start. In both meetings this year, the Cadets defeated the Saints by just one point. The winner of this quarterfinal game will play on Thursday night (2/22) vs. the winner of the Western New England College (#1) / Daniel Webster College (#8) game.
The Men's Volleyball Team was edged by Endicott College in 5 games last Thursday night. The Saints lost the first game, 19-30, but battled back to take the next two, 30-28 and 30-23. Endicott finished on top with wins in the fourth and fifth games, 26-30 and 9-15. Senior outside hitter John Bluhm (Ventura, CA) led Emmanuel with 15 kills and 14 digs. Freshman outside hitter Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, VA) tallied 15 kills and 12 digs. Juniors Brendan Ellis (Chelmsford, MA) and Sophanna Lout (Boston, MA) each recorded 8 kills, while freshman setter Taylor Lowe (Malibu, CA) dished out 50 assists in the effort. Congratulations to Michael Townsend for being named the NECVA-New England Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week. The Saints are now 6-8 overall and 2-3 in NECVA-New England. Emmanuel will travel to Lasell College on Thursday (2/22) for a 7:00 pm start.
February 12, 2007 - The Men's Volleyball Team captured second place at the Annual MIT Volleyball Invitational Tournament over the weekend. The Saints defeated Lasell and Polytechnic on Saturday in straight sets. Emmanuel then fell to the University of New Haven in pool play on Sunday, 3-1. The Saints advanced to the tournament championship and were defeated by MIT, 3-0. Freshman Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, VA) led Emmanuel with a combined 51 kills in the 4 matches. Senior captain John Bluhm (Ventura, CA) tallied 38 kills for the weekend. Both players were named to the All-Tournament Team. Freshman setter Taylor Lowe (Malibu, CA) dished out 161 assists in the tournament. The Saints are now 6-7 overall. Emmanuel will host Endicott College on Thursday night (2/15) at 7:00 pm in North East Collegiate Volleyball Association action.
The Women's Basketball Team rolled to a 69-46 win over Daniel Webster College on Saturday in Nashua, NH. Junior guard Brittany Bushman (Portsmouth, NH) notched 14 points and freshman guard Iman Davis (New Britain, CT) added 11 to lead 18th ranked Emmanuel past the host Eagles. The win was the 11th straight for the Saints, who notched 25 steals and finished with a 52-41 advantage on the boards including 24 on the offensive glass. After Daniel Webster jumped out to an early lead, the Saints defense awoke with five quick steals and Iman Davis knocked down three jumpers sparking a 17-0 run and a take-over of the game. The Saints led 38-17 at the break. Freshman forward Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) added eight points for the Saints, while juniors Jade Paez (Bronx, NY) and Erica Wenz (Bayport, NY) chipped in with seven each. Saturday's win marked another 20-win season for Emmanuel. The Saints are now 20-1 overall and 9-0 in conference play. Emmanuel will play at home three-straight days this week. The Saints will host Babson College on Monday (2/12) at 7pm, Southern Vermont College on Tuesday (2/13) at 5:00 pm, and Pine Manor College on Wednesday (2/14) at 7:00 pm. Emmanuel's three seniors, LaTeisha Johnson, Catherine Gallant and Shardae Parker, will be honored before the start of the game on Wednesday night.

Junior center Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK) chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds, while freshman point guard Mike Jackson (New York, NY) dished out a game-high 7 assists in the win. The Saints improved to 9-14 overall and 8-7 in the GNAC. The Saints will host the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College on Tuesday night (2/13) at 7:00 pm in the last regular season home game. Emmanuel's senior forward Brian Bergeron (San Francisco, CA) will be honored before tip-off.
The Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams competed in the Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday. This was the last meet of the season for the Saints. Emmanuel closed out the season with several positive results. Many athletes set school records. Junior Matt Hickey (North Attleboro, MA) tied his school record in the 800m. Juniors Emily McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) and TJ Griffis (Marshfield, MA) broke the respective school records in the 1000m. Senior Brett Adell (Greene, MA) broke the record in the weight throw and freshman Mark Proto (West Haven, CT) broke the high jump record. Several personal records were also set. Freshman Doug Gillum (Boylston, MA) achieved his personal best in the 5m hurdles and in the 200m. Also running his best in the 200m was junior Ryan Bringhurst (Walpole, MA). Senior Jessica Sehovich (Pelham, MA) improved on her personal best in the shot put by over a foot. Mark Proto and freshman Patrick Welton (Derby, CT) established their personal bests in the long jump. February 9, 2007 - Senior forward LaTeisha Johnson (Dorchester, MA) led the Women's Basketball Team to a 72-51 win over Simmons College on Thursday night. Johnson shot 7 for 11 from the field, scoring 18 points, including the 1,000th of her collegiate career. Johnson also pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds for the Saints. Johnson entered the game needing 17 points to reach the 1,000 point plateau. She now has a total of 1,001 career points. Johnson was also honored by the conference this week, as she was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for her performances in last week's games.
Junior guard Jade Paez (Bronx, NY) hit for 13 points in the win over Simmons, while freshman forward Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) added 11 points and 6 steals. Junior guard Jacquelyn Pannell (Bloomfield, CT) chipped in with 8 points and a game-high 6 assists in the win. The Saints' defense forced 43 Shark turnovers and Emmanuel out-rebounded Simmons, 46-37. The 18th ranked Saints improved to 19-1 overall and remain undefeated in the GNAC at 8-0.
The first NCAA regional rankings were released this week. Emmanuel was ranked 3rd in the Northeast region, behind top seeded Bowdoin College and 2nd seeded Fitchburg State College. The Saints will play again on Saturday (2/10) at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH at 1:00 pm.

The re-match featured 9 lead changes and 10 ties. Sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI) led Emmanuel with 21 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Williams-Hinton shot 8 for 17 from the floor and dished out 3 assists in the effort. Junior forward Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) netted 17 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Freshman point guard Mike Jackson (New York, NY) recorded his first collegiate double-double, scoring 12 points and dishing out 10 assists. Junior center Levi Smith chipped in with 7 points and 9 rebounds. With this loss, the Saints fell to 8-14 on the season and 7-7 in the GNAC. Emmanuel will play in New Haven, CT on Saturday (2/10), when the Saints take on the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College at 3:30 pm.

The Saints dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in NECVA New England. Emmanuel will play in the MIT Invitational Tournament over the weekend. The Saints will face Lasell at 5:00 pm and Polytechnic at 7:00 pm on Saturday. On Sunday, Emmanuel will open up tourney action against the University of New Haven at 10:00 am.
February 6, 2007 - The Men's Basketball Team put together an amazing second half effort to come from behind and defeat Rivier College on Tuesday night in the Yawkey Center. The Saints (8-13) trailed the Raiders (14-8) for the entire game. Rivier's biggest lead of the game came with 10:08 to play, when the Raiders led by 17 points. The final 10 minutes belonged to Emmanuel. The Saints went on an incredible 19-0 run sparked by the clutch shooting of junior forward Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) and sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI). Lindsey posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 9 of 17 from the floor and scored 12 of his 20 points in the final 9 minutes of the game. Williams-Hinton hit for 23 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists in the win.
Emmanuel, which played without leading scorer Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY), got 20 points off of the fast break and 42 points in the paint. After trailing for 35 minutes, the Saints stole the lead with 5:04 remaining on a turnaround jumper by Lindsey, which capped off the 19-0 run. Rivier regained the lead, 74-73, on a baseline three-pointer by John McMahon with 1:30 to play. After an Emmanuel timeout, it was Lindsey who hit the game-winner with 16 seconds left. The Raiders couldn't connect on their final attempt and Emmanuel held on for the 75-74 win. Lindsey's final bucket capped off a 23-5 run by the Saints to end the ballgame.

The Nighthawks took the opening game 30-25, but the Saints came back to win the next three, 30-28, 31-29, and 30-28. Freshman outside hitter Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, VA) led Emmanuel with 19 kills and 14 digs. Senior captain John Bluhm (Ventura, CA) slammed down 17 kills and gathered 12 digs. Junior opposite Brendan Ellis (Chelmsford, MA) totaled 14 kills and 4 aces, while senior middle blocker Trevor Blanchet (Dracut, MA) chipped in with 12 kills in the win. Junior middle hitter Sophanna Lout (Boston, MA) played a solid match, notching 7 kills in 18 attempts with zero errors. Emmanuel's freshman setter Taylor Lowe (Malibu, CA) dished out 59 assists in the 4-game match. The Saints improved to 4-4 on the season. Emmanuel will host the 15th-ranked Raiders of Rivier College on Thursday night (2/8) at 8:00 pm.
February 5, 2007 - On Saturday afternoon, the Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team survived its biggest Great Northeast Athletic Conference threat so far this season. The Saints traveled to Northfield, VT over the weekend and defeated Norwich University, 61-59. The 20th ranked Saints trailed the Cadets 59-57 with under two minutes to go. Senior forward LaTeisha Johnson (Dorchester, MA) tied the game at 59 on a lay-up with 1:26 to play. Freshman guard Iman Davis (New Britain, CT) then hit the game-winner from 8 feet out with just 5 seconds to play. The game featured 3 lead changes and 4 ties. Emmanuel got off to a slow start as the Cadets went on a 13-2 run to start the game. Norwich's biggest lead came mid-way through the first half, when the Cadets led by 12. Norwich led 30-25 at the break. Emmanuel came back in the second half and held its largest lead of 7 points with 11 minutes remaining. Johnson led the Saints with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. She was perfect from the floor, hitting all 7 of her attempts. Freshman forward Tommia Davis (Gloucester, MA) added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Davis also had perfect shooting for the game, connecting on 5 for 5 from the floor and 4 for 4 from the line. Iman Davis chipped in with 8 points, including the game-winner, and 4 steals and 4 assists. The Saints will play again on Thursday night (2/8) at Simmons College at 7:00 pm.
The Men's Volleyball Team captured another victory on Thursday night, defeating COF rival Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Saints toppled the Leopards in 3 games, 30-17, 30-18, and 30-20. Senior outside hitter John Bluhm (Ventura, CA) led Emmanuel with 18 kills. Freshman outside hitter Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, VA) hit .556 for the match with 12 kills in 18 attempts with just 2 errors. Freshman setter Taylor Lowe (Malibu, CA) rattled off 42 assists, while junior Brendan Ellis (Chelmsford, MA) and senior Trevor Blanchet (Dracut, MA) combined for 15 kills and 3 blocks in the win. The Saints improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in NECVA New England. Emmanuel will host 15th ranked Newbury College tonight (2/5) at 8:00 pm. The Saints are home again on Thursday, when they host 14th ranked Rivier College at 8pm.
The Men's Basketball Team lost a heartbreaker to Norwich University on Saturday. The Saints were defeated, 67-66, in Northfield, VT. During the course of the game, the lead changed 5 times and the game was tied 3 times. Emmanuel trailed by 8 at halftime, 36-28. The Saints battled back in the second half, going on a 16-6 run. The Saints outscored the Cadets, 38-31, in the second stanza, but could not close the gap. The Cadets survived 4 missed free-throws down the stretch, as well as a missed three-point attempt by Emmanuel at the buzzer. Sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI) led the Saints with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Junior center Levi Smith (Tulsa, OK) notched another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) also recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. The Saints dropped to 7-13 on the season and 6-6 in the conference. Emmanuel will host the Raiders of Rivier College on Tuesday night (2/6) at 7:00 pm. The Saints defeated the Raiders by just 2 points last month, 69-67.
February 1, 2007 - The Men's Volleyball Team knocked off Elms College on Tuesday night. The Saints rolled to a 3-1 win in their second North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) match of the season. Freshman outside hitter Michael Townsend (Beaverdam, VA) led the Saints with a match-high 20 digs, as well as 12 kills on the night. Senior outside hitter John Bluhm (Ventura, CA) smacked down a team-high 15 kills and tallied 7 digs. Junior middle hitter Brendan Ellis (Chelmsford, MA) totaled 14 kills, to go along with his 3 digs and 3 service aces. Junior middle hitter Sophanna Lout (Boston, MA) notched 11 kills, 8 digs, and 3 blocks in the win. As a team, the Saints hit 31.7% for the match. Emmanuel is now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in NECVA play. The Saints will play again tonight (2/1) at Wentworth Institute of Technology at 7:00 pm.
The Women's Basketball Team rolled to a 70-56 win over Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday night. Junior guard Brittany Bushman (Portsmouth, NH) paced Emmanuel with 21 points and six rebounds, while senior forward LaTeisha Johnson (Dorchester, MA) chipped in with nine points and 12 boards for the Saints. Both teams struggled from the field in the first half with JWU shooting 33.3% and Emmanuel hitting just 28.6% of their shots. The two teams also combined for 27 turnovers with Emmanuel taking a 27-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime. In the second half, Emmanuel took control early, using a 14-2 run, capped by a layup by junior Jade Paez (Bronx, NY). Paez's hoop gave Emmanuel a 60-38 lead with 8:42 remaining in the contest. The Saints then cruised to the 70-56 victory. Emmanuel improved to 17-1 on the season and 6-0 in league play. The Saints will travel to Northfield, VT on Saturday (2/3) to take on the Cadets of Norwich University in a 1:00 pm start.

Emmanuel was led by sophomore guard Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, MI), who notched 21 points and added two rebounds. Sophomore forward Mack Spellman (Clinton, NY) added 14 points and seven boards for the Saints. The score was tied 19-19 midway through the first half before Johnson & Wales used a 12-4 run to take a 31-23 advantage with 6:52 left in the first half. The Wildcats took a 38-33 advantage into the locker room at halftime. Emmanuel battled back in the early stages of the second half and tied the game after a layup by junior forward Brian Lindsey (New Orleans, LA) with 13:58 left in the contest. JWU then went on an 11-2 run over the next eight minutes to take a 66-56 lead with 4:16 left in the game. The Wildcats led by as many as 13 points late in the second half before taking the 78-70 victory. With this loss, Emmanuel fell to 7-12 on the season and 6-5 in the GNAC. The Saints will be on the road this Saturday (2/3), taking on the Cadets of Norwich University. This game will tip off at 3:00 pm in Northfield, VT.
