May 12, 2005

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.---Jamie Wilson pitched six innings of no-hit ball to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to an 8-0 win over Elizabeth City State in the second game of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region softball tournament on Thursday afternoon.

Wilson had 12 strikeouts in the game, and raises her record to 12-2 on the year.

Bloomsburg (41-8) took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Tiff Corliss started the scoring with a two-run home run off the scoreboard in left field. Amanda Breon drove in Jill Homyak later in the inning with a single up the middle.

The Huskies scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 7-0 lead. Corliss and Sarah McDaniel each reached base, and both runners scored off a fielding error when Homyak bunted.

Amanda Breon had the big hit of the inning, with an RBI triple that scored Homyak. Breon would score off Dee Wolfe's sacrifice fly.

Bloomsburg scored the final run of the game in the sixth, when Sara Roba doubled to left field, scoring Jess Snader.

The Huskies were led by Breon at the plate, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.

For Elizabeth City (16-13), Alicia Graham took the loss. She had one strikeout in the game, and goes to 13-9 on the year.
