June 5, 2007

HAMPTON, VA- Christina Hager has been named to the 2007 CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team.

The 2007 CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team recognizes 20 student-athletes, 10 on the First Team and 10 on the Second Team, as voted on by the CIAA-Sports Information Directors' Association. The average grade point average of the First Team is a 3.830, and the average for the Second Team is a 3.739 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

"This is an extraordinary group of student-athletes that have pushed their strengths and abilities to new limits," said CIAA Commissioner Leon G. Kerry. "They represent the CIAA and all that it stands for. This 10th All-Academic Team is dedicated to future student-athletes who will follow in their footsteps to one day become the leaders of tomorrow."

Hager just completed her junior year at Elizabeth City State University as a member of both the volleyball and women's basketball teams. A native of Angier, NC, she maintains a 3.859 as an Accounting major at ECSU. This past season Hager was an All-CIAA first team selection as a middle blocker for the Lady Viking volleyball team who posted the best finish in school history at second place in the CIAA Eastern Division. In women's basketball, she is also a member of the 2006-07 Eastern Division Champions who earned the first post season berth in school history this past March. She is member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the 2006-07 academic year.
