LADY VIKINGS EXTEND WIN STREAK TO SEVEN GAMES; DEFEAT SAINT PAUL'S COLLEGE 83-60

Feb. 10, 2007

Final Stats

LAWRENCEVILLE, VA- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings maintained their hold on the lead in the CIAA East with an 83-60 divisional victory over Saint Paul's College Saturday afternoon.

Tiffany Smith led all scorers with 19 points with All-American center Celeste Trahan contributing with her 56th career double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds. Senior guard Ashley Bowman added 15 points while Deanna Price chipped in with 11 points.

The Lady Vikings built up a 20-point halftime lead as they torched the nets in the Taylor-Whitehead Gymnasium by shooting 55% from the field. Ashley Bowman led the initial charge scoring 12 first half points in 15 minutes of play. In the second half Trahan and Smith would take the lead and carry the scoring load by dominating the paint. Behind that frontcourt duo the Lady Vikings out-manned the Lady Tigers 40-24 in the post. Even more telling was the fact that no Saint Paul's starter scored in double figures. The lone specialty stat that favored the Lady Tigers was that of bench production as Saint Paul's reserves outscored ECSU's 41-16.

Saint Paul's (6-16, CIAA 3-12) was paced by Katrina Wright and Alicia Brown who both came off the bench to net 18 and 14 points, respectively.

The Lady Vikings (17-5, CIAA 14-1) will return to action on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 as they travel to Durham, NC to face North Carolina Central University. Game time is slated for 5:30pm. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
