DeCarlos Mitchell is entering his fourth season with the Vikings and his second year as an Assistant Coach. In his first two seasons with the Vikings, Coach Mitchell served as a graduate assistant in charge of quality control.

Coach Mitchell's responsibilities include assisting position coaches, recruiting and recruiting day activities, assisting with film breakdown, game and practice preparation He is also responsible for video cut-ups, equipment and is the primary contact for all things relative to game day filming.

Mitchell is a graduate of Churchland High School where he played football. After high school, he entered the U.S. Navy where he stayed active in football and basketball by playing in several service leagues while overseas. Additionally, Coach Mitchell is an assistant coach for the Churchland High School Varsity Boys Basketball team. During the 2007-2008 season he helped coached the Truckers to an 18-win season. He also was the Head Wrestling Coach at Churchland Middle School, where he led Churchland to winning the City Wrestling Championship. He received his B.S. from Elizabeth City State University in Criminal Justice (2006).

A native of Portsmouth, VA, Mitchell has two daughters: Diamond (11) and Alexea(5).
