ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Carleta Ricks, a varsity cheerleader on the Elizabeth City State University cheerleading squad, has been voted Miss ECSU for the upcoming academic year.

A senior political science major, Ricks hails from Chesapeake, VA. Since coming to ECSU, she has been a staple prior to the start of athletic events with her stirring rendition of the National Anthem which she also displayed at the 2004 CIAA Basketball Tournament in Raleigh, NC. Ricks, who holds a 3.25 GPA, will officially be crowned this fall at the University's annual coronation in October.

As Miss ECSU 2005-2006, she will also compete for the title of Miss CIAA, which is voted on by fans of the CIAA twelve member schools.
