May 16, 2007 River Forest, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) named Dominican University's Mike Albert (Chicago, IL) to the NAC Baseball All-Conference First Team. Albert, the Stars' second leading hitter, posted a .301 batting average with a team-high 21 runs batted in and a team-best .403 on-base percentage to go along with 34 hits, including six doubles, and scored 14 runs. A 6' 1" sophomore first baseman, Albert logged a .991 fielding percentage with 312 putouts and 12 assists. In addition to Albert, teammates Mike Eifel (Midlothian, IL) and George Hickey (Chicago, IL) received All-Conference Honorable Mentions from the NAC. Eifel, a 6' 4" right-hand pitcher, posted a 2.39 earned run average in six appearances in conference play. Opposing NAC hitters logged just a .203 batting average against him and he struck out 35 hitters while allowing just 13 walks and 26 hits. Hickey, a utility man for the Stars in 2007, played second base, third base, shortstop, left field and made late inning appearances on the mound. On the mound, Hickey boasted a team-best 2.25 ERA in 12 appearances with four saves. On the year, opposing hitters managed just a .217 batting average against him with five strikeouts and just four walks. At the plate, Hickey logged 19 hits with five doubles and one triple. He scored 19 runs on the season, second-best on the team, and was 8-for-9 in stolen base attempts. On the year, the Stars finished with a 16-21 record overall and a 10-10 record in conference play, missing the NAC Baseball Tournament by three games after winning the 2006 Lake Michigan Conference Tournament and receiving the conference's automatic bid to the national tournament. |
