FINDLAY, Ohio - The University of Dayton track and field team earned nine Top 5 finishes and two Flyers recorded career bests at the Findlay Track and Field Classic hosted by the University of Findlay on January 26 and 27. Liz Forster and Jacqueline Jaworek recorded career bests in the 400 meter (59.23) and 3000 meter (10:45.87), respectively. Jaworek dropped 30 seconds from her time to finish in tenth place.

Freshman Lauren McCormick set a season best in the 55 meter dash finishing in second place with a time of 7.08. She also recorded a season best in the 200 meter dash. Her fast time of 26.26 was good for seventh place.

In the 55 meter hurdles, Emma Steinmetz recorded a time of 8.69 in the finals for her season best finish, while teammates Micella Davis (27.19) and Emily Krizmanic (27.76) ran their fastest times in the 200 meter event.

UD had a strong presence in distance events as Kate Tejkl placed eighth in the 800 meter run (2:23.03) and teammate Bridget Conlon place 15th at 2:27.80. Conlon also placed 15th in the one mile run (5:27.94). Sydney Hubbard and Olivia Conlon recorded their season best times in the same event at 5:32.51 and 5:35.74, respectively.

In addition, four Flyers recorded season bests in 3000 meter run. Emily Deet (11:06.94), Alex Miles (11:08.82), Elizabeth Tucker (11:28.14), and Amanda Tucker (11:37.33) had strong finishes in the event.

In the jumps, junior Megan Sweeney earned third place in the high jump when she cleared a height of 5-05.00. Freshman Andrea Funk leapt a distance of 16-04.25 in the long jump for a 15th place finish out of 46 jumpers and fellow classmate Meghan Schreppler recorded a jump of 15-04.25 to earn her season best.

Funk also took home a fifth place finish in the triple jump with her season best leap of 36-03.50. Senior Tara Hentgen finishing eighth with her jump of 34-09.00.

Freshmen Katie DeVault competed in the pole vault (10-06.00) and Molly McCarty competed in the throws recording distances of 37-06.00 in the shot put and 34-01.25 in the weight throw.

In relay action, UD's 4x4 team earned fourth place with a time of 4:05.65.

Amy Kremer, Micailah Brock, Candace McKinley, and Jessica Schulte competed in the pentathlon. Kremer took home sixth place finishing with 3119 points finishing strong in the high jump (5-01.75) and shot put (35-10.00). McKinley had a strong showing in the shot put placing first out of 14 competitors with her throw of 36-05.00. She earned 2180 points overall.

Brock earned eighth place in the pentathlon placing fourth in the shot put (34-01.40) and fifth in the long jump (16-06.50) while Schulte took home eighth in a separate section with 2575 points. The sophomore ran the 800 meter in 2:39.66 for fourth place and earned sixth place honors in the long jump with her leap of 15-02.75.

Dayton will continue their indoor season on February 2 and 3 as the Flyers head to New York to compete in the New Balance Games.
