Box Score

Dayton, OH - The University of Dayton softball team traveled across town to take on Wright State in a non-conference doubleheader. UD fell to the Raiders 10-9 in eight innings. The loss drops UD to 7-10-1 on the season.

The Flyers out hit the Raiders 13-11, as the teams combined for 24 hits in the game.

Dayton made it on the scoreboard first as Christine Eggers, who went 2-4 on the day with two walks, singled to right field improving her on base percentage to .358. Tami Roudebush singled through the middle to score Eggers and her ninth RBI of the year put UD up 1-0.

The Raiders countered with four runs in the first inning followed by two runs in the second to go up 6-2. It wasn't until the fifth inning that UD made a comeback to score three runs off a single by Shannon St. Clair, who was 2-3 on the day. Cassie Gross followed with an RBI double which scored St. Clair to bring Dayton to within two, 7-5.

Cassie Gross homered in the fifth inning to put the Flyers up 8-7, bringing her career total to 12 and putting her in sole possession of second place on the all-time career list at UD. Gross finished 2-5 with two runs scored and four RBI in the game.

Christine Eggers was able to score for Dayton off a single to right field hit by Tamsyn Kellough to put Dayton up 9-8 going into the eighth inning.

The Raider's Farley singled through the left side to tie the game at 9-9. The next batter reached on an error which allowed Scherer to cross the plate and defeat the Flyers 10-9.

Laura Matthews was 3-5 with three singles. Anne Crecelius hit 2-4 with two singles and had one RBI.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader against Wright State was cancelled due to darkness. Dayton returns home Saturday to take on Rhode Island in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader at UD Arena Softball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
