April 3, 2007 With only one tournament left before the Colonial Athletic Association Championship, the Dayton Flyers look to improve their play at the Lady Herd/Lady Dukes Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. UD is coming off a 10th place finish at the Longwood Invitational. Freshman Katie Dempsey led the Flyers shooting rounds of 79, 80 and 82 to finish in 15th place. Other Flyer contributors at the Longwood Invitational included senior Lindsey Greuter who tallied an 83 in round three to place in 48th overall and freshman Elaine English who posted an 86 in round three. The Flyers will compete at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. It's a par-72 course that hosted the 2006 Men's Division II Golf Championship. After this weekend's invitational, the Flyers will compete at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship starting Friday, April 20 and lasting through Sunday, April 22. The duo of Melissa Gaus and Greuter led Dayton to an eighth place finish last year. Gaus has enjoyed a consistent spring averaging 87 strokes per round. Greuter has picked up her level of play as well ranking third on the team in stroke percentage. In three of the five rounds she has played this season, Greuter has shot an 83. As a team Dayton averages a 342.14 in seven rounds during the 2007 spring season. Its best score this spring is a 334 at the Northern Kentucky Invitational back on March 25. In addition, Dayton has used 10 golfers in three tournaments this season. |
