CAROLYN FUCHS TIES FOR THIRD AT BELLARMINE INVITATIONAL

University of Dayton senior Carolyn Fuchs (Louisville, KY) led UD at the Bellarmine Invitational with an 81 (+9), only three strokes of the champion and tying her for third place. She was followed by sophomore Melissa Gaus (Noblesville, IN) 90 (+18) tied for 18th, senior Jen Edgin (Columbus, OH) 93 (+21) tied for 26th, junior Tiffany Ruhe (Ottawa, OH) 93 (+21) tied for 26th, and finishing out the scoring for the Flyers were the newcomers freshman Laura Grande (Carmel, IN) 94 (+22) tied for 30th and Mary Kane (Western Spring, IL) 97 (+25) in 35th place. Individually the trophy was won by Kim Keyer-Scott of N. Kentucky University who carded a 78 to put finish at 6-over par.

Northern Kentucky University (328) won the tournament for the women, followed by Southern Indiana (342), Brescia University (345), and University of Findlay (350).

Senior Tim Skufka (Chardon, OH) shot a one round score of 75 (+3) and senior Bill Everding (St. Louis, MO) shot a 76 (+4) to lead the men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the single day tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. The women finished in sixth place, carding an overall team score of 357 (+69).

Skufka, who finished 3-over par for the day, tied for sixth place out of 53 golfers and helped the UD men get back on track after a shaky season opener one week ago. Finishing next for the Flyers was Everding with his 76 (+4), finishing tied for 9th place. Following him was sophomore Sam Morton (Centerville, OH) 79 (+7), tied for 24th, and rounding out the arsenal for the men all tied for 31st place was senior A.J. Quinter (Minster, OH), Adam Myers, and senior Brett Gould (Dayton, OH) all shooting 81 and finishing nine strokes over par.

The Individual champion for the men was Ben Holt from Bellarmine University with a score of 67, 5-under par.

The men finished with an overall team score of 313 (+25), nineteen strokes behind Bellarmine University who won the tournament with a score of 294.

The men's team champion was the host squad Bellarmine University carding a 294 to finish 6-over par. Next was University of Indianapolis 301 (+13), University of Findlay 310 (+22), finishing three strokes in front of Dayton.

Next up for the Flyer men and women is the UD/UC invitational on April 4th and 5th, which is a two-day tournament being hosted by Dayton and Cincinnati. The first round of the tournament will be held at Clovernook Country Club in Cincinnati and the second round here in Dayton at the Yankee Trace Country Club.
