#23/22 TEMPLE 70, DAYTON 36

Feb. 19, 2006

Recap |  Box Score |  Photo Gallery

DAYTON HEAD COACH Jim Jabir

"I thought we prepared well, but obviously we didn't. We weren't ready to in any way to play this game. We only had one day to prepare for this team. We thought we were sound in what we were doing. Our intensity level and our readiness just wasn't there."

On the Temple's post defense

"They frustrated Cara (Wright). They frustrated all of us. We shot 37 percent for the game and 16 in the second half. That's not just Cara, you can't blame her. I thought we were ready to play, but obviously we weren't. That's on me."

On Dayton's offensive performance

"They (Temple) were very physical and very athletic. We need to work harder to get the ball into the post. Sometimes we aren't a very good passing team and I wanted us to attack the basket more and drive to the hoop."

TEMPLE HEAD COACH DAWN STALEY
"Our energy was good today. Our kids came out today with a conscious effort to give 40 minutes. We jumped out on them early and put them in a position of disruption. That's what we want to do. We don't want them to score on us in a way they are comfortable with."

"We know that Cara Wright loves to the left block, and so we wanted to keep her off that left block and make her make shots from somewhere else. If she makes it, she makes it, but not in a way she's comfortable with."
