FLYER MEN HAVE SUCCESS IN SINGLES AT LOUISVILLE FALL INVITATIONAL

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Dayton men's tennis team competed in individual play at the University of Louisville Fall Invitational this weekend. Senior Rob Altenau (Cincinnati, OH) and sophomore Tom Murphy (Carmel, IN) were among Flyers picking up victories.

In flight A singles Altenau defeated Dirk Prinsloo of the University of Tennessee-Martin. Murphy defeated Jack Komar of Depaul University in consolation play by a score of 8-4.

Freshman James O'Connell (Toledo, OH) and junior Jamison Downs (Indianapolis, IN) had flight B consolation singles wins. O'Connell defeated Aaron Schaechterle of Iowa by a score of 9-7 while Downs defeated Vinicius Font of Chicago State University by a score of 8-5.

In flight C singles senior Jonathon Khoury (Cincinnati, OH) had a first round win in two sets over Danny Vidal of Ball State University by a score of 7-5, 6-4. He was seeded fourth.

In flight C doubles action Downs and freshman Peter Oakes (Centerville, OH) teamed up for a first round win over Dan Sundersingh and Brian Savino of Wright State University by a score of 8-2.

The next challenge for the Flyers is the Wright State Invitational in Fairborn on October 15 and 16.
