The Flyers men's tennis squad picked up a 5-2 victory over Division III Carthage College as its spring break trip to Orlando continues. Dayton improves its record to 9-6.

Senior Rob Altenau picked up UD's first singles point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Dane Schmidgall.

Sophomore Tom Murphy followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Carthage's Brad Livingston. UD's James O'Connell posted a pair of 6-1 games over Alex Donkor for the victory, and Rex Cabrera defeated Zach Newhouse, 6-2, 6-2.

Carthage picked up two wins as Tommy Collins bested junior Jamison Downs, 1-6, 7-6, 7-7 (10-4), and Tres Heimann downed freshman Peter Oakes, 6-3, in a shortened match.

Schmidgall and Livingston opened doubles play with a 9-7 win over Altenau and Jonathan Khoury for the Division III school from Kenosha, Wisconsin. But the pairing of Murphy and James O'Connell got UD back on track, defeating Donkor and Newhouse, 8-0. Downs and Cabrera won their match over Collins and Heimann, 8-6, as UD picked up the doubles point.

The Flyers face Salve Regina next in Orlando. The Flyers will return to Ohio for a match Wednesday, March 30, at Dayton Center Courts against Xavier.
