Former UD men's soccer All-American Chris Rolfe was named to the U.S. National Team for Saturday's friendly at Scotland. Rolfe earned the call up by U.S. National Team Manager Bruce Arena as a part of 20 players selected to face Scotland on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Glasgow and is one of three first time US National players looking to earn his first cap with the senior team. Earlier this month, Arena told the New York Times of his desire to inject more youth into the US roster.

Rolfe is one of four forwards at Arena's disposal for the match against Scotland. The match will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel, and fans can also follow live on ussoccer.com's MatchTracker, presented by Philips Electronics.

If Rolfe plays Saturday, he will be the fifth UD student athlete to represent their country on the national team. He will join former Flyer Basketball players Johnny Davis (1973-76), Jim Paxon Sr. (1950-53; 1955-56), Mike Sylvester (1971-74) (Italy), and former Rower Bernadette Martin.

Last week, Rolfe finished second in the running for the Gatorade Major League Soccer Rookie of the Year Award. In his first season with the Chicago Fire of the MLS, Rolfe lead the Fire in numerous categories, including goals (8), shots (61), shots on goal (32) and games played (29). Rolfe's eight goals made him the first rookie in club history to lead the Fire in scoring, earning him the 2005 Fire/Budweiser Golden Boot award, while also placing him second among the League's rookies in the category.

Rolfe played UD from 2001-2004 and is UD's all-time assist leader. He was a Second Team All-America selection in 2004.

His team wrapped up its season last Sunday with a 1-0 loss to the New England Revolution in the Semifinals of the 2005 MLS Cup playoffs.
