MEN'S SOCCER LOSES AT HOME FOR FIRST TIME IN ALMOST TWO YEARS

Dasan Robinson's second goal of the year tied the match

Oct. 9, 2005

Box Score

DAYTON, Ohio - The UD men's soccer team saw its 11-match unbeaten streak at Baujan Field snapped by La Salle on Sunday. The Explorers scored the game-winning goal off a deflection in the 89th minute for a 2-1 win. Dayton falls to 6-4-1 overall, and 1-1 in the Atlantic 10. Dasan Robinson scored the game-tying goal for the Flyers with five minutes left.

La Salle (4-5-3; 1-0-1 Atlantic 10) opened the scoring in the 54th minute when Geoff Schaeffer and Mike Lehr traded passed through space in the box. Lehr sent a pass to his left, where Jeremy Ortiz tapped it just inside the post for a 1-0 lead.

The Flyers tied the match at 84:59, when Damion Blackburn (Beavercreek, OH) played the ball ahead to Omar Jarun (Peachtree City, GA). Jarun found a streaking Dasan Robinson (Elyria, OH), and Robinson put the ball home from inside 12 yards for his second of the season.

With just 1:53 remaining, a shot by Ortiz deflected off a Dayton defender, changed direction and trickled past UD keeper Steve Ladislaw (Philadelphia, PA). Ladislaw, playing the shot's original path stopped and dove back towards the redirection, but couldn't get a hand on it.

The loss was the Flyers' first at home in almost two seasons. Dayton went 10-0-1 at Baujan Field since a 3-1 loss to Duquesne on Halloween, 2003. UD's loss to La Salle was similar to the Duquesne loss - as the Flyers played the Dukes without four starters.

UD took the field Sunday without the services of Nate Darr (red card), Lubo Bogdanov (injury) and Terry Alvino (injury). Bogdanov scored twice in Friday's come-from-behind win over George Washington and has four goals and two assists in just five starts. Darr had played every minute this season before being sent off Friday. Alvino had scored in three consecutive games.

The Flyers out-shot La Salle 25-8 for the match, and held a 10-4 lead in shots on goal. But La Salle keeper Andrew Bernhard made nine saves.

Dayton is on the road next weekend, with A-10 matches against Richmond on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and at Charlotte at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. It will be the first meeting ever between the Flyers and Charlotte, which joined the A-10 this season.
