AT DAYTON:
Wingeier returns for his second season as a starter after a 2008 season where he was an elite performer on and off the field. In the field, Wingeier started all twelve games of the season for the Flyers. He added 39 tackles to the team, (ten of which were in the backfield) with 15 being unassisted tackles. He had five sacks for a total loss of 24 yards. Off the field, he was named an ESPN The Magazine First Team All-American, and First Team Academic All-PFL. After redshirting as a freshman, Wingeier played in 11 games for the Flyers during the 2007 season. He saw much of action on special teams, but on the year, he had eight hits (three solo) and two sacks worth 20 yards in opponent losses. He is a three-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll.

Son of Ben and Debbie Wingeier...Born on November 26, 1987...has one sister, Leah....Majoring in Mechanical Engineering...Wingeier was first team all league and all-county in football. In hockey, he was a three-time captain and named to the league all-star team as a senior. Wingeier was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with the top 5% of his senior class.
