AT DAYTON: Coming off a year of ineligibility due to not being enrolled in the University during the spring semester of 2006, O'Dell recorded a superb season. A starter at flanker two years ago, he practiced last fall and won the starting job back with a strong spring. In 2007, he had a net 75 rushing yards, while receiving 56 passes for 506 yards. He added 6 touchdowns to his resum while also returning 9 kicks for 155 yards. After redshirting the 2003 season, O'Dell was one busy Flyer in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he played in eight games (starting in seven), hauled in 12 passes for 287 yards and returned 11 kickoffs for 257 yards. In 2004, he played in all ten games (starting one) at WR. He was UD's #1 kickoff returner, and when Brian Gooding suffered a season-ending knee injury, he took over the punting duties as well. O'Dell was Dayton's third-leading receiver as a backup (12 catches, 18.8 avg.) that year. He also returned 17 kickoffs for a 21.4 yard per return average. As a punter, he averaged 34.8 yards a punt, and put 11 of his 41 punts inside the opponent 20-yard-line. Athletic multi-tasking was nothing new to O'Dell. As a high school senior, he played QB, RB, WR, DB, returned kicks and punted while also playing baseball and running track. He is a two-time member of the PFL Academic Honor Roll.
