*Today's game was the 139th meeting in the all-time series and represents the oldest rivalry for both teams. UD leads the all-time series 79-60, but XU has won eight of the last 10. *The Flyers have not beaten Xavier in Cincinnati since Jan. 10, 1981 -- a 74-72 win at U.S. Bank Arena (then Riverfront Coliseum). The 2005 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship will be played at U.S. Bank Arena, beginning with Opening Round play Wednesday. U.S. Bank Arena (then Firstar Center) is also the site of the Flyers' last win in the Queen City limits -- upseting No. 12 Kentucky, 68-66, Nov. 10, 2000. *UD has dropped 20-straight to Xavier in Cincy (15 at Cincinnati Gardens and five at Cintas Center) *UD has not won in five previous attempts at Cintas Center. *UD could have finished anywhere between First and Third today in the A-10 West Division. Here were the scenarios: *With 15 points, Mark Jones led UD in scoring for just the fourth time this season. His last time pacing UD was with the 13 he scored at Vanderbilt (Dec. 28). *Trent Meacham's 14 points (4-of-5 from three-point range) marked his first double-figure game since scoring 17 at Temple (Feb. 9). *Sophomore Monty Scott has led the Flyers in scoring in four of the last five games, but was held to five today. *UD was 16-for-19 at the free throw line, led by Norman Plummer (eight-for-eight). *Will Caudle was named the winner of the Blackburn-McCafferty MVP trophy with a career-high 18 points for Xavier on 6-8 shooting from the field and 6-10 at the free throw line. He also pulled down a career-best 13 boards for his first career double-double. *UD started the game 0-6 (0-4 3-pt) and 0-2 FT, while XU hit its first four shots from the field (1-1 3pt.)...Bennett scored UD's first points on a jumper at 13:40 to make the score 14-2. *Although missing its first six shots, UD's first offensive rebound did not come until 3:27 left in the first half. |
