DAYTON, OHIO - The Dayton Flyers fought back from a 4-0 deficit for a 6-5 game one win over Saint Louis Friday in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader. Brian Chandler singled off the pitcher to plate the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th. Chandler was two-for-five on the day with a walk and two RBI his third home run of the season. Dayton is now 31-21 overall, 17-8 in the A-10, the most conference wins ever for the Flyers. SLU falls to 27-25 overall, 14-11 in the A-10. The Flyers fell behind 4-0 in after five and half innings of play. UD picked up a run in the sixth as Craig Rohren singled home Galen Schumm, who doubled to lead off the inning. Dayton made it 4-2 in the seventh on a solo home run by Frank Tedesco, his first career blast which cleared the scoreboard in left center field. SLU picked up a run in the eighth, but UD answered on a Chandler home run to right to cut it 5-3. In the bottom of the ninth, Michael Massa singled and Bobby Getty doubled to right center to pull UD within one. Chandler walked and Schumm was intentionally walked to load the bases and then William Benoit was hit by pitch to tie the game. In the 10th, Kevin Miller got on with a one-out walk and Massa followed with a single. after a fielder's choice and a stolen base, Schumm was walked intentionally to load the bases and Chandler ripped a pitch off RP Eric Mueller. The ball deflected towards second base and Chandler dove into the first base bag as Miller scored the game-winning run. Game two begins at 3:50 with live stats on Gametracker |
