Nov. 17, 2007 The Panthers traveled to the Nation's Capital for tonight's match-up with NCAA Div. II Columbia Union College and continued their hot start to the season as they won by a score of 95-89. The Panthers played most of the game without Senior All-American Jeanette Woodberry who was in foul trouble for most of the game and actually fouled out with over 9:00 remaining. But her team came up big in her absence and the charge was led by Junior Sara Haverdink who posted a game high 28 points as she hit seven 3-point shots on the night. Kallie Benike controlled the play in the 2nd half as she ended the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Panthers also received solid efforts from Kristi Boehm (16 points, 6 assists and 5 steals) and Lynne Blomberg (17 points and 6 assists). Davenport led 53-43 at the break and then used some solid shooting in the 2nd half for the win and overall, DU hit 15 3-point shots on the night. The win is the fourth straight to open the 2007-2008 campaign for the Panthers as they will now have a week off before traveling to Milwaukee, WI for a two game weekend starting with University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday, November 24. |
