The Davenport Men's Hockey team made a trip to St. Louis this past weekend to face off against the #5 ranked Lindenwood University in Division I.  On Friday night, the Lions came out playing a tough brand of hockey and tried to take advantage of the Panthers "bus legs".  After a flurry of shots by Travis Borina of Lindenwood, the Panthers settled in and started to play their game.  Jeff Wiley started the scoring half way through the first period on a great pass from Kevin Doyle.  Lindenwood's Captain scored on a short handed goal towards the end of the period and that would be the only goal transfer goalie Chris Jozwiak would surrender.  The Panthers "Yellow Line" of Bob Collar, Kevin Doyle, and Chad Rutzel dominated the next two periods.  Bob Collar notched two goals and Chad Rutzel scored the last goal to make the final score 4-1.  On Saturday night Lindenwood came out determined not to let Davenport complete the road weekend sweep.  After a scoreless first period, the Lions scored 3 goals in the second period.  Sophomore Adam Thomas scored his first goal of the season on a one on one move that completely froze the defenseman and goalie as he slid the puck through the goalies legs.  In the third period Davenport made a comeback with Chad Rutzel and Billy McSween notching goals.  This would be as close as the Panthers would get as the Lions scored a goal, and added an empty netter to make the final score 5-3.  The Panthers will continue their travels as they make a trip to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on Liberty University the team that put the Panthers out of the Nationals last year.
