Bedard enters his second year as the Rams Head coach, and his 19th season as a track coach for Colorado State University. The Rams indoor track squads both finished second at the Mountain West Conference Championships in 2007. At the Outdoor Championship meet the men finished second and the women finished fourth. "I feel really good about this years recruiting class with many of our recruits able to impact our team in their first year."

Bedard has been on the Rams coaching staff since the fall of 1988 when he began his career as the throwing events coach. He was honored as the Mountain Region and NCAA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year in 2005. He has coached 48 conference champions, 30 All-American performances, and two National Champions. All of Colorado State's school records in the throws have come during Bedard's tenure as the Rams throwing events coach. In 2005 Bedard was inducted into the Colorado State University Hall of Honor for his accomplishments as a coach.

One of Bedard's most well known throwers is Casey Malone from Arvada West High School in Colorado. In the 2004 Olympic Games Malone placed 6th in the discus competition. Bedard also coached Malone to a Junior National title and Junior World Championship gold medal as a freshman at CSU. Malone garnered 4 All-American certificates and an NCAA title in the discus during his collegiate career. He currently owns the Colorado State University school record in the discus at 211' 6".

Bedard's other standout throwers include; Loree Smith the 2005 NCAA National Champion hammer thrower, who was also the runner-up in the indoor weight throw and a five-time All-American. Loree set the American Collegiate Record in the indoor weight throw with a mark of 74'3" during the 2005 indoor season. Loree also set an NCAA Collegiate Record in the hammer throw at the Mountain West Championships with a throw of 70.02 meters or 229'9".

Bedard also coached Fort Collins native and five-time All-American and 1999 NCAA discus runner-up Shelly Borrman. Borrman still owns the Colorado State record and WAC Conference record in the discus, throwing the platter 198'8". With Bedard's guidance Liz Toman placed second in the 2001 NCAA discus final. Drew Loftin was the 2003 NCAA indoor runner-up in the weight throw and outdoor runner-up in the hammer. Loftin threw 71'1.5" in the weight and 233' in the hammer while competing as a Ram. The Rams most current All-American was junior Jason Schutz who placed eighth in the discus at the 2007 NCAA Championships and twelfth at the USA Championships.

Bedard's knowledge is not limited to the throwing events, however. For three seasons he coached the long jump and triple jump events and was also the heptathlon/decathlon coordinator for 10 seasons. He coached Liz Toman to a school record, conference championship and NCAA qualifying mark in the high jump as well as coaching Doug Crumb 7105 points and Matt Smoldt 7183 points to conference decathlon titles. Bedard also coached former assistant coach Lindsey Malone in the heptathlon, where she set a school record with 5,160 points.

Bedard has been a featured speaker across the country and has designed a nationally-renowned instructional video about discus technique. The video is available through Championship Books and Videos. He was a track & field student-athlete at Colorado State University from 1983-88. Bedard finished as the Western Athletic Conference runner-up in the discus and placed in the shot put.

He married the former Jill Johnson, a volleyball standout for Colorado State University. They have two daughters, 11-year-old Kelcey and 9 year-old Baylee.
