MALIBU, Calif. - Senior Manuel Ruiz finished 32nd in a time of 26:10.55 while Diego Fernandez was one spot behind in 33rd place for the Cal State Northridge men's cross country team at the Pepperdine Invitational in Malibu.
Ruiz (North Hills, CA/Monroe HS) was the top Matador finisher as he placed 32nd in a time of 26:10.55. Fernandez (Oxnard, CA/Hueneme HS) was next as the junior placed 33rd in a time of 26:11.34. Mike Stotland (Encino, CA/Van Nuys HS) finished 73rd in a time of 27:53.62 and Juan Olea was 78th in a time of 28:39.23.
Under menacing skies and running on soggy trails, the UCLA men’s cross country team captured the 8k college team title. Placing five of their runners in the top 15, the Bruins finished with 39 points while second place finisher Cal State Fullerton finished 17 points behind (56). Pepperdine finished in 11th place (249).
The Matador men's team did not post a team score due to having only four runners compete in the meet. Northridge's fifth runner did not compete due to injury.
