Robinson Takes Decathlon Lead into Day Two

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge's Robert Robinson and UC Irvine's Lauren Collins took the early lead in the decathlon and heptathlon, respectively, during the first day of the 2007 Big West Track & Field Championships at the Matador Track & Field Complex.
Robinson leads ten other participants after the first day of the Decathlon at the 2007 Big West Track and Field Championships. The freshman recorded the top time in the 100 Meters and 400 meters and had the top mark in the Long Jump on his way to 3,652 points. Cal Poly teammates James Nunno and Jeremy Vuksonovich rest in second and third place, respectively. Nunno placed second in the 100 and 400 Meters. Vuksonovich won the Shot Put and the High Jump.
UC Irvine's Collins leads ten other participants after the first day of the Heptathlon at the 2007 Big West Track and Field Championships. The sophomore recorded the fastest time in the 100 Hurdles and had the second best marks in the High Jump and the 200 Meters. Collins has 3,389 points after four events. Cal State Northridge's Brittany Ricketts is in second place with 3,245 points after having the top mark in the Shot Put and placing second in the 100 Hurdles. Cal Poly's Sharon Day had the top mark in the High Jump and the 200 Meters and sits in third place with 3,201 points.
