Titans Fall To Lions, 3-0

Sept. 25, 2007

Box Score

Fullerton, Calif. - The Lions Heather Hughes had a game-leading 16 kills and hit .343 as Loyola Marymount snapped Cal State Fullerton's two-game winning streak and ended their three-game homestand with a 3-0 sweep in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday night at Titan Gym.

After a pair of sluggish games to open the match, Fullerton gave a valiant effort in game number three, holding even with LMU to 24-24. But the Lions used five unforced Titan errors over the last 10 plays to hand Fullerton the 21-30, 23-30, 28-30 loss. Fullerton dropped to 7-6 overall while the LMU improved to 8-5 on the year.

Brittany Moore was the offensive leader for the Titans, collecting 15 kills and hit .250 on night, but it wasn't enough as the Lions led in most every major statistical category. Jennifer Francisco (11), Alex Wolnisty (10) and Erin Saddler (10) combined for an additional 31 kills for Fullerton.

LMU out-blocked the Titans as a team 8.0-4.0, and held the Titans to just a .169 attack percentage. Saddler and Wolnisty each had a pair of block assists to lead the Titans at the net, while the Lions' Emily Day paced the floor with four blocks including one solo in the win.

The Titans will return to Big West Conference action Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Cal State Northrige.
