Sept. 8, 2007

Box Score

San Marcos, Texas - Brittany Moore's second-consecutive double-double lifted the Titans to a 3-1 win over the University of Houston Saturday afternoon as Cal State Fullerton finished the CenturyTel Premier volleyball tournament with a 2-1 record.

Fullerton jumped above the .500 mark for the first time this year and improve to 5-4 with the 31-29, 31-33, 31-29, 30-15 victory. Houston, which lost all three matches of the tourney, fell to 3-6 on the year.

Moore, coming off a career-high 25-kill day on saturday, followed with a 21-kill, 13-dig performance to lead the Titans in total points with 21.0 and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Alex Wolnisty and Jennifer Francisco added to Moore's attack with 13 kills apiece.

Erin Saddler, had another solid performance at the net with four blocks, also contributing nine kills to also earn a spot on her second straight all-tourney team. Wolnisty and Jennifer Francisco also matched Saddler on the afternoon with four total blocks as well.

UH didn't go down without a fight, forcing three of the four matches into extra points. With 39 ties and 17 lead changes in the first three games, neither team was ever able to take a decisive lead in the match.

Three Titans posted double digits in digs with freshman Genie Francisco leading all three with 20. The Bobcats' Ashley Calhoun led all players with 22.

Fullerton out-hit the competition .246 to .154 overall but it was game four's .405 to -.036 that was the deciding factor in the match.

Fullerton concludes their pre-conferecne tournament schedule but will continue their road trip with one last midweek match with San Diego State before the open of conference play on Sept. 21.
