Michelle Anunciation

Player Profile

Position:
Assistant Coach (1st Season)

Alma Mater:
University of the Pacific '05

Michelle Anunciation, a volunteer assistant coach with the Cal State Fullerton softball program for the past two seasons, enters her third season on the Titans staff after being hired as an assistant coach on a full-time basis in August, 2007.

Anunciation takes over for the departed Gina Oaks, who resigned her position after two seasons to pursue professional playing opportunities overseas.

"I am extremely excited for Michelle to become a member of our coaching staff full time," Head Coach Michelle Gromacki said. "She has already gained the respect of our staff and student-athletes and meshes well within our system. Michelle has an understanding of the Titan philosophy and where the program is headed.

"I have been able to watch her over the last two years and I am confident that her experience and passion for the game will allow her to grow as a coach within our program."

Among her many duties during her two seasons as the program's volunteer assistant, Anunciation worked with the team's slap hitters as well as the middle infielders while also serving as the team's video coordinator and handling the team's travel arrangements.

She joined the Fullerton staff after a standout playing career with the Titans' Big West Conference rival Pacific, earning All-Big West honors three times in her Tigers' career.

As a senior, Anunciation earned first-team all-conference laurels and second-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region honors after hitting .365 with four home runs and a career-high 40 RBI.

She was named Big West Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks in 2005, marking the first time in the history of the league that a player has accomplished that feat.

Anunciation was a second-team all-conference honoree following her junior season, hitting .341 while tying for sixth in the league in hits (62) and tied for fourth in stolen bases (12), and earned honorable mention honors as a freshman. She finished her four-year career with the Tigers ranked in the top 10 in average, hits, doubles, and RBI.

A native of Chino Hills, Calif., Anunciation prepped at nearby Diamond Bar HS where she was a four-year letter winner and a three-time All-Sierra League First-Team honoree.

Anunciation is married to Cal State Fullerton Assistant Athletics Director Aaron Tapper and the couple resides in Buena Park.
