BIG WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK (May 7)
Wes Roemer / Jr., RHP, Glendora, Calif.
Wes was the winner of the only Titan victory this week against conference opponent UC Santa Barbara on Friday night. The junior right-hander was impressive, tossing his fourth complete game of the season and setting his career-high in strikeouts, fanning 13 Gauchos for his seventh win of the year. Roemer got stronger as the game progressed and picked up eight of his K's between the sixth and eighth innings, including five in a row and the entire side in the eighth, all of which went down looking. Roemer carried a shutout going into the ninth inning, facing just two over the minimum. Roemer finished surrendering just one run on six hits, facing just four over the minimum. He did not allow a walk.

TITAN TIDBITS:
• The Titans have lost six of their last seven games and have hit just .239 over that span.

• Despite losing six of the last seven ballgames, Clark Hardman continues his All-American run, collecting a team-leading 11 hits from the leadoff spot over that span. The junior picked up seven of those 11 hits over the last two games, with a 3-for-6 day on Saturday and a 4-for-5 day on Sunday against UC Santa Barbara.

• Over the past five games, left fielder Josh Fellhauer has matched Clark Hardman's team-leading eight hits, posting four RBI and scoring four runs.

• Lefthander Dustin Birosak has put together a streak of 10 innings without surrendering a run. The streak dates back to Mar. 10, spanning eight appearances out of the bullpen. Over that span, Birosak has surrendered just three hits while striking out eight.

• The Titans lost their first game when leading after eight innings on Sunday as UCSB scored four times in the ninth inning to beat the Titans 7-6. The Titans are now 24-1 when leading after eight.

• UC Santa Barbara beat the Titans in a three-game series for the first time since 2001.

• The last time the Titans lost seven games in conference was 2002 when they finished 14-10 and tied for fourth in the Big West.

• Wes Roemer is closing in on the dubious honor of having hit the most batters in a career. Nino Fasulo of Charleston Southern, hit 66 in his four-year career in 209 IP from 2002-2005 and currently holds the NCAA mark. Roemer now holds the top three spots in the CSF single-season record book (23 in 2005, 18 in 2006, and 17 so far in 2007) and sits just eight shy of tying Fasulo's mark at 58 career plunks. His 23 hit batters in 2005 as a freshman, was just two shy of the NCAA single season mark set by Florida's Marc Valdes in 1993.

• This week marks the first time since Apr. 26, 2004 that the Titans are absent in the three major college baseball polls (Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and USA Today/Coaches). Only the NCBWA has left the Titans at No. 25 in their poll.
