Both Titan Teams Run 17th at Regional

Nov. 12, 2006

Portland, OR - Jordan Horn finished 38th and Juliane Masciani was 71st to lead Cal State Fullerton runners across the finish line and to a pair of 17th-place showings Saturday at the NCAA West Regional Cross Country Championships in Portland, Oregon.

Horn covered the 10 K course in 31:20.42 and was followed by teammates Sergio Tapia (117th), Avedia Nazarian (121st), Cory Vaselenko (127th) and David Soto (128th).

"The finish was nothing to brag about, but it was a good experience for the young guys," said Head Coach John Elders. "Avo and Sergio showed some promise. Jordan ran with the first group of 15 for the first 6K or so but then faded a little in the final 2K. I look for him to have a really good track season."

Masciana ran the women's 6K in 23:13.84 followed immediately by fellow Titan Gail Munoz (72nd) and then Luz Valdez (83rd), Andrea Aguilar (102nd) and Amanda Eichmann (146th).

"The women ran a little bit better than at the conference meet," said Elders. "It was a good way to finish the season.

"Munoz, who 's a freshman, ran an outstanding race."

Stanford won the women's team standings but placed second to Oregon on the men's side.
