Nov. 9, 2005

Pasadena, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton opened its Intercollegiate Fencing Conference of Southern California schedule in impressive fashion Saturday, sweeping UCLA, Arizona State, UC Santa Barbara and USC in competition at Cal Tech.

The Titans beat the Bruins 18-9 in men and women; beat Arizona State 17-10 in men and 16-11 in women; beat the Gauchos 18-9 in men and 21-3 in women; and handled the Trojans 17-10 in men and 18-9 in women. The best effort came in women's foil vs. Arizona State where the Titans swept all nine points.

Individually, four Titans had perfect 12-0 records -- Jon Cresante in men's foil, Patrick Harder in men's sabre, Senta Breden in women's foil and Rachel Liebing in women's sabre. T. J. Brewer was 11-1 in men's epee and John Bellone had the same mark in men's sabre.
