Irvine, Calif. - Sente Breden in foil and Rachel Liebing in sabre captured first-place finishes for Cal State Fullerton in its 2005-06 season-opening action Saturday at the Southern California Collegiate Fencing Invitational at UC Irvine.

Breden is a senior from Germantown, Maryland, and Liebing is a junior fro Spanish Fork, Utah.

On the men's side, seniors Patrick Harder (Manhattan Beach) and Alex Decker (San Jose) each placed second in the sabre and foil, respectively.

Fullerton's next competition is a rare home match with the alumni Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
