UW-Green Bay Sends Volleyball To Second Consecutive Loss

Sept. 27, 2003

Box Score

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Cleveland State volleyball team suffered its second setback in as many days, falling to UW-Green Bay 30-23, 32-30, 32-30 Saturday afternoon at the Phoenix Sports Center. The loss drops the Vikings to 10-7 overall, 0-2 in the Horizon League while the Phoenix improves to 12-3, 2-0.

CSU led 23-19 in game two and 25-22 in the third frame, but failed to maintain either advantage. The Phoenix was able to rally in both games thanks in part to an offense that posted a .275 hitting percentage for the match while limiting the Vikings to just a .152 percentage.

Sophomore outside hitter Emily Clark (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) led CSU with a career-high tying 12 kills and 16 digs. Junior middle hitter Jamie Bouyer (Bedford Heights, Ohio/Chanel) finished with 10 kills and five blocks but was held to her lowest hitting percentage of the season (.100).

UWGB's Janelle Tomlinson led all players with 22 kills and 17 digs, while Amanda Timmers hit .632 (12-0-19) and added 11 digs.

"I am obviously disappointed to lose, but I thought we played fairly well on the road this weekend," said CSU head coach Chuck Voss. "I was especially pleased with the way Emily [Clark] stepped up her level of play. She had a lot of good swings."

Cleveland State is in action again when the Vikings return home to host Loyola Chicago on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. in Woodling Gymnasium.
