Cleveland State Ends Losing Streak With, 99-65, Win At IPFW

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Cleveland State (7-11) ended its six-game losing streak in emphatic fashion, winning at IPFW (4-17) Monday night, 99-65. With the victory, the Vikings improved to 48-4 when scoring at least 80 points in seven seasons under coach Duffy Burns (6-0 this year). CSU shot 52.1 percent from the field and forced 35 turnovers, while setting season-highs for points and steals (23).

Trailing, 30-18, with 9:44 left in the first half, the Vikings went on separate runs of 19-0 and 14-0 to take a commanding, 51-38, lead into the locker room. In the second stanza, CSU's lead never went below 12 and ballooned to as much as 39.

All five Viking starters scored in double-figures, led by freshman guard Nikki Perkins' (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) career-high 14 points. Shannon Sword (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) and Erika Roudebush (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) each tallied 13, while Ashley Schrock (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon) and Karyn Woloszynek (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) added 12 and 11, respectively. Roudebush paced the team with seven assists and a career-best eight steals, while Jill Barnbrook (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) notched a career-high seven rebounds.

Freshman guard Courtney Nicley led IPFW with a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds.

Cleveland State returns to Horizon League action on Thursday, Jan. 31 when it travels to Wright State for a 6:05 p.m. contest.
