Wrestling Ranked 25th In Latest Coaches Poll

Feb. 6, 2003

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State wrestling team is tied for 25th with Northern Illinois in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I Top 25 poll released Wednesday afternoon. Ranked 24th earlier in the year, the Vikings reemerged in the poll on the strength of consecutive victories over Eastern Michigan, Lock Haven and Bloomsburg.

In addition, half of CSU's line-up appears in the latest Amateur Wrestling News individual Top 20 rankings. Senior Gerald Harris (Tulsa, Okla./East Central) heads the list, standing 4th at 184 pounds. At 125, senior Rocco Mansueto (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) ranks 18th, while twin brother Phil Mansueto (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) checks in 12th at 133. Junior 149-pounder Anthony Coleman (Bellevue, Ohio/Bellevue) is 20th, while senior heavyweight Russ Davie (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) is ranked 16th.

Currently 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the Eastern Wrestling League, Cleveland State is in action again on Saturday (Feb. 8) at Woodling Gymnasium when the Vikings host intrastate foe Ohio at 7:30 p.m. The CSU-Ohio match will be preceded at 5:00 p.m. by a high school contest featuring Kenston and Garfield Heights. CSU then closes out its home schedule with Senior Night ceremonies prior to its 7:30 p.m. match against EWL rival Clarion on Thursday, Feb. 13.
