Men's Tennis Falls to Valparaiso
Oct. 3, 2004
Contact: David Barry Valparaiso, IN - The Cleveland State men's tennis team dropped its second straight match, a 7-0 decision to host Valparaiso Sunday afternoon in Indiana. "We competed better today than we did yesterday," coach Brian Etzkin said after the match. "But we still didn't convert when we needed to." The Vikings were shutout for the second straight day, as one day ago Cleveland State lost its first conference match of the season to UW-Green Bay. "It was frustrating," Etzkin said. "We felt like we prepared well for this weekend, but, unfortunately, we didn't come through." Mike Durr stepped into the lineup in place of an injured Brett Aronson. Durr lost at #6 singles, 6-3, 6-3. "We're not going to feel sorry for ourselves," coach Etzkin said. "We will go back to work on doubles and try to improve ourselves. We will get back to work so we can beat all three teams we will face at home. We beat them all last year and would like to do so again this season." The Vikings will host three consecutive home matches starting next Sunday, Oct. 10th with Youngstown State at 1:00 p.m. at Malaga Tennis Center. |
