CLEMSON, SC - Clemson women's track and field standout Gisele Oliveira was named a member of the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America women's cross country/track and field team. This is the first academic all-america honor for the junior from Porto Alegre, Brazil. Oliveira, a management major, owns a 3.95 GPA and earned academic all-district honors in 2003 and 2004.
Oliveira is Clemson's all-time leader in the triple jump and ranks second on the Lady Tigers' list in the long jump. She captured the 2004 East Region triple jump with a mark of 44'10.75" and placed third in the triple jump at the 2004 NCAA Championships with the same mark. She is the 2004 ACC Champion in the triple jump and holds the ACC's all-time and meet records in the event. A year ago, Oliveira earned All-America honors in the long jump and triple jump, placing seventh in the long jump and third in the triple jump. She is the first Lady Tiger in Clemson track and field history to advance to the NCAA Championships in the triple jump for three consecutive seasons as she earned All-America honors in the triple jump in 2002 with a seventh-place finish.
She was named to the 2002 US Track and Field Coaches Association All-Academic team in recognition of her athletic and academic acheivements. Oliveira is also a member of the 2001-02 and 2002-03 ACC and Clemson academic honor rolls.
