CLEMSON, SC - Eight members of the Clemson women's track and field team will compete at the Iowa State Last Chance Meet to be held this weekend in Ames, IA. The Lady Tigers will compete on Saturday at the Lied Rec Center. The meet will kick off with the field events, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the women's pole vault. Running events will start at 10:30 with the women's 5,000-meter run. Jessica Cousins, Randi Hinton, Patrice McMillan, Casey Phillips, Jelyn Quick, Shakirah Rutherford, Christina Smith and Silja Ulfarsdottir will each run in the qualifying meet.

Cousins, Hinton, Rutherford, Smith and Ulfarsdottir will compete in the 200m dash. Cousins and Ulfarsdottir have already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with season-best times of 24.17 and 23.96, respectively. Hinton owns a season-best time of 24.48 set at the Kentucky Invitational, while Rutherford has a season-best time of 24.93. McMillan will compete in the 800m, an event in which she has a season-best time of 2:13.43 set at the ACC Championships. In the mile run, Phillips will look to improve on her season-best performance of 5:00.58 set at the Carle/Health Alliance Classic. Quick, who has a season-best time of 8.49 set at the conference meet, will compete in the 60m hurdles.

Senior Lauren Nicholson will travel to Chapel Hill, NC, to compete in the USATF Combined Events Championships to be held at the Eddie Smith Fieldhouse. The pentathlon is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM on Sunday. Most recently, Nicholson won the 2004 pentathlon title with 3,676 points.
